Footloose Freya
I’m Freya, a Brit living by the beach in Sydney, Australia

Now and then I go on adventures, I’ve been to over 370 different places in 35 countries on 6 continents…..and counting. I’m also an experienced marketing professional and photography enthusiast.

When I’m planning travel my priorities are usually immersing myself in nature, indulging my outdoorsy side and taking beautiful pictures. My trips tend to have a balance of wildlife encounters, ecotourism, barefoot luxury and urban/foodie exploring. Most of the time I travel with my partner JJ, who shares my passion for the outdoors and offbeat destinations.

SO, HOW DID I END UP IN SYDNEY?

Short version…..about 18 months after graduating from uni, I decided that the “real world” wasn’t for me just yet. I was desperate for an adventure and some sun. Having saved enough money from my first full-time job to buy flights, I applied for an Australian working holiday visa.

On my first day in Sydney, I was walking along Manly Beach and realised that one year just wouldn’t be long enough. While travelling the country I spent some time working on a farm to extend my visa for another 12 months. When I returned to Sydney, I found an employer that wanted to keep me long term. That employer nominated me for permanent migration and now I’m a UK/Australia dual citizen – hooray!

DAILY LIFE

When I’m not blogging, photo editing or researching my next travel destination, you can find me digital marketing (my day job). Or maybe hanging out at a local beach. I also really love HIIT training, martial arts, yoga and obsessively re-organising everything around me.

Footloose Freya is a space for me to document and share any of the above, plus anything else that tickles my fancy. If you’re interested in living overseas or constantly googling intrepid holiday destinations, I hope this blog will give you some inspiration to make your own adventures happen.
